Study European Community Law in the Czech Republic

John Marshall offers a one-semester exchange program for John Marshall students with both Metropolitan University in Prague and Masaryk University Faculty of Law in Brno. At Metropolitan University, students focus their studies on commercial law, European Union law, and intellectual property law, among other subjects. Students studying at the Masaryk University Faculty of Law concentrate their courses in European Union law, international law, and Czech law.

Study Information

The Czech Slovak Legal Institute selects qualified John Marshall students to study at Metropolitan University Prague and Masaryk Faculty of Law during either the fall or spring semesters. In 2012, Masaryk University Faculty of Law established a scholarship that covers housing and a living stipend for up to two qualified students. Courses at these universities are taught in English and are part of an Erasmus program offered to students from all over Europe. Students must have completed 29 credit hours and have a 3.0 GPA.

Spring Semester Deadline: October 1

Students are responsible for their own travel arrangements and expenses, including passport, visa, and local travel expenses. Students are also responsible for their own accommodations while studying in the Czech Republic, as well as books, equipment, food, hospitalization, health insurance, and any other incidental expenses arising from the exchange. Both Metropolitan and Masaryk will provide advice and assistance in securing accommodations, if necessary. Masaryk University also provides a scholarship for qualified John Marshall students for housing and living expenses.
