Law School Coronavirus/COVID-19 Updates

Updated July 8, 2020

UIC John Marshall Law School, in concert with the University of Illinois at Chicago, continues to monitor the situation related to the COVID-19 disease. The Law School continues to prioritize the health and safety of our community members.

On Monday, July 13, we will partially reopen the Law School campus, including the Law Library. This partial re-opening will last until August 23, at which time we will—if safety permits—open more of the campus to accommodate some Fall 2020 classes.

During the July 13-August 23 phase of reopening, students and recent graduates with seat reservations may enter the campus to study; faculty and staff with approved schedules may also enter campus to work. Individuals who have a reservation via the access@jmls.edu email process may enter for short periods to retrieve items.

Safety protocols and other important information about this phase are described in this narrated PowerPoint presentation. To make a reservation or enter campus, you must watch and agree to abide by the safety protocols describes in the PowerPoint presentation and in other UIC policies.

Each time you plan to enter campus, you must consent to an online wellness screening, which also requires your confirmation that you will abide by safety protocols while on campus. The link for the wellness screening is located within the PowerPoint. Please note that you will also asked about whether you have recently traveled to any location in the Mayor’s July 2, 2020 Emergency Travel Order.

Please do not come to campus without a seat reservation or prior written approval, as you may not be permitted to remain. Please note that guests are not allowed on campus, even if accompanied by an individual with permission to enter campus. Also, alumni are permitted on campus only if they are studying for a Summer/Fall 2020 bar examination and also have the type of email address that works with the reservation system.

Students, recent graduates, and faculty who choose to enter campus during this period, and staff who requested permission to work on campus during this period, are doing so voluntarily.
